Students in computer information technology study a core of courses that include basic informatics topics and fundamentals of computer and network administration. Students are required to select a track.

There are four tracks available:

  • Network and System Administration
  • Web and Database administration
  • Cybersecurity
  • Non-specialist

The IT classes are offered during daytime and in the evening, and in multiple formats (face-to-face, online, and hybrid). In addition to the traditional 16-week courses offered face-to-face during the daytime and in the evening, online, and hybrid, ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ offers several accelerated 7-week evening, online, and hybrid courses.  This allows you to customize your schedule in a format that works for you and your life.

"I was a campus tour guide, a tutor, a teaching assistant, a member of the Honors Student Association, a founding editor of the Honors College Magazine, and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority where I held the positions of Historian, Vice President, and Chapter President."

Favorite ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ Memory

"My freshman year I lived in the Honors College dorm. When the residents in my hall moved out we got to leave our handprints in paint on the dorm’s wall, and it was so much fun decorating our handprints."

Advice for students

"Get out of your comfort zone, and try new things. You never know what activities you will enjoy or what new friends you could make!"

  • Flexible Course Offering: Earn your degree ´Ú³Ü±ô±ô-³Ù¾±³¾±ðÌýorÌý±è²¹°ù³Ù-³Ù¾±³¾±ð. We offer classes at times that work with your varied schedule! All classes are offered in daytime and evening hours. Many classes are also offered accelerated, hybrid format and/or online!
  • Outstanding Career Preparation: This program provides you with hands-on lab experiences in all courses.  Build on your academic success by engaging in our student organizations, on campus competitions, and internship and co-op opportunities including virtual co-op programs.
    • Whatever your career focus, you can gain valuable on-the-job experience in an internship or co-op arranged through ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ Career Services.
    • ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ students are gaining professional experience with area businesses such as Duke Energy, Fidelity Investments, The Cincinnati Reds, Hewlett-Packard, Kroger, Procter & Gamble and The Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Job Prospects for Today and Tomorrow: Apply your education, skills and experiences gathered at ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ to launch your careers in the tech field.  These positions are in high demand locally and nationally with projected increases for at least the next 10 years.
    • With the field of computer information technology being one of the fastest growing in the world, this degree prepares students to solve real-world problems in a variety of computing technologies. Potential careers include: Network Systems Administrator, Web Administrator, Database Administrator, and Computer Security Specialist.
