By engaging with fundamental questions about the world and human experience, philosophy prepares students with conceptual and applied skills essential to pursuing a rewarding career and, more importantly, a meaningful life. The philosophy minor program at 猎鹰体育直播 is home to exceptionally dedicated faculty with a variety of distinct academic specializations. Our faculty serves to effectively prepare students for success in a fast-growing, technology-driven world, such as information and communication technology, ethics consulting, law (and paralegal professions), health care, journalism, politics and public policy, fundraising and nonprofit work, religion and ministry, business and management.

Hunter Meister

Hunter Meister

Graduating Year: Senior

Education: English major (Creative Writing track); Philosophy minor鈥 

Hunter Meister is an English major on the Creative Writing track with a minor in Philosophy. She is a transfer student from Ivy Tech Community College where she received an A.G.S., she is now pursuing a BA. Once she graduates she intends to further her education by going to grad school for an MFA. She also intends to pursue a writing career. Hunter says that 鈥渢he 猎鹰体育直播 Philosophy Department has helped her to expand her horizons on topics ranging from death to how we as humans treat and mistreat the world that we live in.鈥濃

  • Co-curricular Opportunities: We offer various opportunities for you to actively engage with faculty and your fellow students through our vibrant SAPiens Student Society, Phi Sigma Tau national honor society in philosophy, Ethics Bowl Team (which participates annually in regional intercollegiate competitions), Philosophers鈥 Caf茅 (where issues of contemporary interest are raised and discussed in a public forum), Philosophy and Films Series (where feature films with philosophical themes are screened and discussed).聽
  • Career Explorations: Our innovative, interdisciplinary courses, such as PHI 220: Health Care Ethics, PHI 310: Information Ethics, and PHI 360 Environmental Philosophy provide a glimpse into various career paths that philosopher offers. Or you might be interested in one of the study abroad programs in our department (e.g. Belize, Thailand, Ireland, Kenya, and Fiji) to learn and experience other cultures, and expand your cultural competency.聽
