The Mathematical and Statistical Consulting Center began operation in the fall of 2001 with funding from CINSAM, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (through the Sehnert-Pugh fund) and the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
In 2004, the name of the center was changed to the Burkardt Consulting Center (BCC) in honor of Tom Burkardt, outstanding ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ alumnus of 2003 and generous supporter of the center.
Since opening, the center has been home to 50 student consultants working on more than 1000 projects. Clients have included ÁÔÓ¥ÌåÓýÖ±²¥ faculty, students, departments and administrators; local schools, area medical centers and businesses.
The center exists primarily to support our clients' research endeavors, however, advancing the student consultants' academic careers and job prospects through their experience with us is just as important.
